By Morgan Lee

Acne is skin condition that is often found in teenagers. With a good skin care regime, the problem often resolves itself once puberty is past, and leaves no lasting scars. However, cystic acne is a more serious form and without the right cystic acne treatment, there is a risk of permanent scarring. This form of skin condition can occur at any age, although it is still more common in teenagers.

The medical profession has linked this skin disorder to several potential causes. Including, dust getting into your pores and causing a blockage, poor nutrition, hormone imbalance and believe it or not dandruff. As yet there has been no definitive cause identified. There is little doubt that good nutrition and looking after your skin properly helps to prevent any form of skin condition.

There are a variety of commercial products that you can purchase from your local pharmacy. You should speak to the pharmacist about any concerns you may have and for advice on the best product for you. Commercial products come with clear written instruction on how and when to use the product, and they usually have a reasonable price tag.

Depending on what you have in your store cupboard, there are several home-made remedies you might like to try. A thick paste made from baking soda, and a little water should be applied to the area and left for 15 minutes to set. Use tepid water to rinse the paste off, and at the same time you are removing the excess oil from the skin which helps to prevent breakouts.

If you are too late, and the zit has broken out and looks or feels inflamed, add a pinch of sea salt to the baking soda and water to produce a thick paste. Apply to the affected area to help calm down the inflammation and remove the excess oil. After 15, minutes rinse with lukewarm water.

This skin disorder is not usually painful, but it can be very unsightly, especially when it becomes inflamed. Try mixing a few drops of honey with the white of an egg to treat the inflammation and stop further breakouts. If you have what is known as an adult cystic acne, try mixing some honey, turmeric and lime juice. This mix has proven very effective in adults.

One very effective remedy is tea-tree oil. It destroys the bacteria and helps to fight the infection. These are only a few of the herbal and natural remedies that are available and are proven to be beneficial cystic acne treatment.
